My Teaching Experience

During my practicum at SMP Labschool UPI Bandung, I had the opportunity to teach real students for the first time. It was both exciting and a little challenging, but it helped me understand what teaching is really like beyond theory.
 

How I Taught

- I usually started each class with a simple greeting and a quick check-in. To make the classroom more relaxed, I added a short ice-breaking activity at the beginning. This helped students feel more comfortable and ready to learn.

- After that, I introduced the lesson by connecting it to students’ experiences, sometimes through questions or short videos. This made the lesson more interesting and meaningful for them.

- Most of the activities were done in groups. Students worked together to share ideas, discuss,
and complete tasks. I noticed that they became more active when they learned by doing rather than just listening.

- At the end of the lesson, students presented their work, and I gave feedback to help them improve.
 

Time Management

Time management was quite challenging for me. Even though I planned everything, some activities took longer than expected, especially group work and presentations. So, I learned to be flexible and adjust my plan during the lesson. This helped me focus on the most important parts of the lesson.
 

What I Learned

One thing that I really enjoyed was seeing students become more confident. At first, some of them were shy, but later they started to speak more and participate actively. This experience taught me that teaching is not only about giving knowledge, but also about creating a space where students feel comfortable to learn and express themselves.
